All of the world’s languages at your fingertips.
Mainline AV International provides a full range of language support for conferences and meetings anywhere in the world. Our company was founded by language service professionals, who have a distinct vision for where this important service needs to go. Our leadership in the field of interpretation is helping to bring this niche service into the mainstream as globalization continues to make cross-cultural understanding a part of almost every business’ bottom line. Our vast experience in both the public and private sectors give us significant insight into the market place and allows Mainline AV to accurately predict our client’s needs, helping us to tailor our services on a meeting by meeting basis. We understand that this is not a one size fits all world and our personal relationship with the world’s best interpreters as well as our expertise in language distribution equipment sets our services apart from our competitors.
What makes our interpretation services different?
There are three basic components to providing language interpretation services to any size meeting. The first component is the people. Language interpretation is one of the most difficult and least understood abilities known to man. From the days of Marco Polo and Sacagawea, only a select few people have the ability to, not only know another language, but to be able to succinctly and accurately render one language into another. This become even more difficult a task when the message being delivered is not just a general topic but rather a specialized field of medicine, engineering or finance that has its own terminology, acronyms and sub-culture. It is for this exact reason that Mainline AV International is not just a general language service provider. We have invested our entire careers in forging personal relationships with the world’s leading interpretation professionals in almost every field imaginable. We have categorized thousands of highly qualified individuals who are not only professional interpreters but who have very valuable specific knowledge of their fields of interest. When we suggest interpreters for your meeting, you can be sure that these are individuals, certified and strictly vetted to be the best possible match for your needs.
Secondly, language interpretation requires specialized equipment. For meetings here in the United States and in Japan, Mainline AV maintains its own stock of brand new Bosch Integrus Digital Infrared Language Distribution equipment. The Bosch Integrus product, in addition to our integrated Bosch Wireless Push-to-Talk Microphones, our Bosch DCN Conference Microphones and our Bosch CCS800 Microphones, is the gold standard for Conference Simultaneous Interpretation (sometimes referred to as Simultaneous Translation). This is the equipment used by the most important interpreted congresses in the world including the United Nations, the Hague, the World Bank and others. It is flawless technology and superior to anything else on the market in every way. The digital IR transmission of the Bosch Integrus system works 100% interference-free in any type of lighting and even in daylight (something that all other infrared systems cannot claim). Also the sound quality of the Bosch equipment is remarkably better than any of the FM systems on the market. For the attendees listening to the Bosch system this will come as a huge relief when they do not feel the “FM fatigue” that accompanies listening to white-noise static all day long.
Most of the meetings Mainline AV supports, however, are not in the United States and Japan. Over 60% of our meeting support
takes place in the rest of the world as we are well suited to accommodate requests anywhere your conference may take you. While some companies rely on their equipment supplier to tell them who they can and cannot partner with, Mainline AV relies on our carefully constructed business partnerships. We have personal relationships with 38 companies worldwide who carry our standard of equipment and who embody the same level of dedication to excellence that we set for ourselves. These companies are comprised of men and women we not only consider friends but who have our profound trust to do a good job, every time. Thus, project managers at Mainline AV know exactly who to turn to when a request comes in for Prague, Dubai, Singapore or Buenos Aires because we know the world and the people who inhabit it.
Finally, providing language interpretation takes knowledge and our employees have that in spades. Mainline AV International believes that hard work and commitment are leadership traits that need to be exhibited from the top down. Our management team is required to perform a certain number of on-site interpretation project management jobs every quarter, simply to stay attuned to the trade and to stay focused on our core beliefs. We train all of our staff, not just the project managers, to be proficient in our trade so that every person working for us can speak intelligently about the needs and understand the preparation involved in interpreting for complex international congresses. We attend trade-show, seminars and additional training to ensure that our technicians are at the top of their field in all aspects of language interpretation, audio-visual production and event management. When a Mainline AV employee walks into a convention hall, that person is proficient at everything that is going on and acts as a part of a team. For the good of any meeting, our project managers are cross-trained on all aspects of live events and can jump in to help on any task, not just our own. It is this superior training and knowledge that makes Mainline AV International the company it is and it is our people who will take your meeting to the next level.
Simultaneous Interpretation (Conference Interpretation or Simultaneous Translation)

This is the interpretation you are looking to use for meetings and conferences where there is no time to stop. Simultaneous Interpretation is performed by a pair of interpreters who are doing their job at a presenter’s normal presentation pace. The attendees in the audience will all wear the high-quality digital Bosch headsets and receivers to listen to the interference-free infrared distribution of the running interpretation for the duration of the meeting. This type of system allows for up to 31 languages per room and “relay” interpretation off of one or more of the interpreted channels. This is the type of interpretation used in Pharmaceutical, Military, Diplomatic, Financial and Scientific meetings.
Consecutive Interpretation (sometimes referred to as Consecutive Translation)
Consecutive Interpretation is performed when the presenter will say a few lines of speech and wait for the interpreter to repeat what was just said. This is often done with a single interpreter but for longer session it would be necessary for the interpreters to work as a team. Consecutive interpretation can be used in conjunction with portable or stationary whisper equipment or with general professional sound equipment. Consecutive interpretation is only effective when speaking to an audience comprised of one foreign language. This approach will at least double the time it takes to hold a meeting and breaks up the flow of the information. It is only recommended for simple training sessions, small meetings, educational presentations and topics of short duration.
Escort Interpretation
Occasionally clients need interpreters who can be mobile. Interpreters who walk along with the clients through trade shows, industrial facility tours, museums, historic sites and during diplomatic or humanitarian visits are called escort interpreters. These interpreters are generally very versatile and good with people. They try to represent their client as accurately as possible to make exchanges as natural as possible. Escort interpretation is intended to be of short duration.
Remote Interpretation (Videoconference Interpretation)
Typically, when two parties cannot be in the same room at the same time, a videoconference with interpretation can be established. This is particularly useful for shorter meetings such as a bank’s shareholder meeting or an international business’ board meeting. The interpretation performed for this type of meeting is simultaneous in nature.
